Many of my clients present to therapy wanting to deal with pain and suffering related to loss. I recently (2015) completed the training required to become a Grief Recovery Specialist through The Grief Recovery Institute. There are many common life experiences not typically understood as grief, but the experts at the Grief Recovery Institute helped me to understand and identify many different grievers coming to Newcastle Family Therapy for what they thought was simply sadness. Grief issues are not just common; they are frequently misunderstood and too often dealt with alone.
I am currently providing one-on-one Grief Recovery Method sessions and ongoing 7-week groups related to pet loss. This work allows clients to challenge their old beliefs about loss and to participate in actions that allow for completion of unresolved emotions.
Pet loss groups are not drop-in groups, but rather each group is a community of individuals supporting one another as they work through their loss and the Grief Recovery actions. To find out about starting dates for pet loss groups, please call Laurie at (704) 650-9425.
